Like chicken soup and flowered bedspreads, certain things just remind us of home. Everything we do at MediLodge of Alpena brings a homelike feeling to our residents and their families. Our welcoming decor invites the understanding that comes from being recognized as an individual.

Whether it is a short-term stay or a long-term move, our warm, cozy rooms are havens that restore and soothe our residents.

As always, we are sensitive to the emotions that many of our residents have when they leave home. Especially when they initially enter new surroundings, they may feel an intense loss of all that’s familiar. Also, it can be difficult to accept the need for help with daily tasks and self-care.

Reminders through well-loved objects, like artwork and keepsakes, can help make the change easier. We encourage the use of favorite bedding, photos, and anything else that will help your loved one feel comfortable. Even certain furniture pieces can be set up for delivery to a resident’s room. We will do anything in our power to ensure a positive environment.

Privacy Matters

Of course, privacy is crucial to ensure the proper comfort level. We make sure that even in our semi-private rooms, each individual has a space one can call one’s own. Often, our double rooms are where long-term friendships are forged. Many enjoy talking to and sharing everyday activities with another person. Of course, if complete privacy is what you prefer, we can arrange that as well.

When everyone gathers around a table, family visits turn into celebrations. We are happy to help arrange your special events with loved ones. You can always request unique menu items or anything else that will make your time together more enjoyable. We’d love to help you plan a truly memorable visit.
